David, Sally-Anne, Fiona and Sara - with the chorus - are working on the early part of Act 2 when Holfernes and Judith meet and he falls for her.
On the surface, the story is simple. The young widow goes to the tent of the brutal invader, she gets him drunk than removes his head.
But it's more complicated, more ambiguous than that. Holofernes has a poetic turn of phrase:
Through you, the dark and shadowy night
laughs with the brilliance
of miraculous shining splendour.
And no dawn of new light shall appear
no matter how radiant or glorious,
that is not outshone by your splendour.
And, as David and Sally-Anne are playing it, there is some electricity between them.
David's counter tenor and Sally-Anne's mezzo blend together beautifully.
A few photos from Thursday night. Not up to Bridget's standard, of course.
Vagaus (Fiona) prepares the wine for Holfernes (David) - Judith (Sally-Anne) looks on, not sure what will happen next.

The whole cast (almost).
